How will the 2025-26 EPL season unfold? Bold predictions, news, player insights.

Wosti por Wosti -

The 2024-2025 Premier League season brought many thrills and spills to fans across the world. Liverpool broke Manchester City’s four-year run of Premier League title successes as Arne Slot became the first Dutch manager to lift the EPL trophy. At the other end of the table, usual top four candidates Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur endured miserable seasons in the league, finishing 15th and 17th respectively. However, Tottenham gave themselves some cheer by lifting their first trophy in 17 years by defeating Manchester United in the “all-or-nothing” Europa League final.

There were surprise packages looking to take advantage of Tottenham’s and United’s demises in the form of Nottingham Forest, Brighton, and Bournemouth, with the former running in the Champions League places for most the season before settling for a Europa Conference League once the curtain fell on another enthralling EPL season.

With clubs currently stepping up their pre-season efforts and with new signings being brought through the doors up and down the country, what can we expect from the upcoming season? Will Arsenal and Manchester City bounce back from their shortcomings? Can Ruben Amorim get it right at Manchester United? And can the promoted teams put up a fight against an immediate return to the Championship?

Liverpool to win back-to-back titles?

Not many people had Liverpool to lift the Premier League trophy last season. Following the departure of legendary manager Jürgen Klopp, many expected a season of transition once Arne Slot was announced as the new manager. But despite being third favourites to win the league, Slot masterminded a title charge that took full advantage of Arsenal’s and Manchester City’s struggles.

Most fans are expecting Arteta’s and Guardiola’s charges to bounce back which could make new EPL season winner predictions even tastier, especially with Arsenal playing Liverpool and Manchester City in the first five matches of the new season, as well as opening their campaign away at Manchester United.

The focus however will be on Liverpool, particularly after the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold and the tragic loss of striker Diogo Jota. The Portuguese international will always be remembered not only for his goalscoring prowess, but also for his infectious smile and Liverpool will want to do all they can to crown his memory with another title win.

Surprise Packages

Football fans worldwide love a fairytale story, and Nottingham Forest played the role as the ultimate underdog last season. However, with big clubs such as Leeds United and Sunderland returning to the top division of English football, punters might be looking at their outside chances of a confident mid-table finish, if not higher. Both teams have been busy in the transfer window so far, with Sunderland already spending over £100 million in their first season back in the topflight since the 2016/17 season.

Under the astute guidance of Regis Le Bris, fans might only need to look to Sunderland for the next underdog story. But Daniel Farke’s Leeds United outfit will also want to reassert their credentials as an established Premier League team. After the disappointing relegation in 2023, Leeds fans will be hoping for something more than a relegation dogfight when they kick their season off at home to Everton on 18th August.

EPL as competitive as ever before

For arguably the best league in the world, the levels of competition have only increased in recent seasons. With teams like Bournemouth, Fulham, and FA Cup winners Crystal Palace closing the gap to the top seven teams, there is greater unpredictability, especially with the bigger teams having to juggle more European matches and additional competitions such as the FIFA Club World Cup. With more developments on and off the pitch to come over the summer, revised predictions, breaking news, and new insights are sure to arrive, which will only add to the anticipation and excitement over the upcoming EPL season.
